DIY: Custom IKEA desk for $26

IKEA is known for having some nice products at decently good prices. I recently was in the market for a small desk to fit in my outdoor reading shed. (Yes, you read that correctly.) I needed the width of the desk to be around a foot and a half, because the shed is only 4×6. So a 2-foot wide desk would take up half of the space inside, meaning the room to sit down would be slim.

So to find my IKEA-quality custom made desk here is what I did, and what you can do too:

Step 1: Go to the IKEA as-is section and find a returned kitchen cabinet door ($10-15). There may be a knick or two, but hey, we’re doing this on the cheap.

Step 2: Pick out your legs ($4-15 per leg).

Step 3: Check out, go home, and assemble. You may need a small helper.
