Perhaps you may have heard that Christian philosopher Dr. James Spiegel had his employment terminated by Taylor University. Jim, who has been a friend of mine for 6.5 years, posted a video online of a song that he wrote. The song is called “Little Hitler” and, on a plain reading of the lyrics, is about how each of us has the ability to perform heinous, wicked actions. The song was performed at a Taylor University chapel in 2010 to the student body (1,200 in attendance) and there were no complaints. However, fast forward to the Woke Culture and now in 2020 1 person filed a formal harassment claim against Jim … for posting a song online.
This is a bogus harassment claim. Period. But it seems like Taylor U has had it out for Jim because of his conservative views. I wrote a formal letter to the Provost expressing my strong disagreement with their decision to fire Jim.. You can read that letter HERE. But, Jim needs YOUR support. I do not support Taylor University’s decision to terminate Dr. James Spiegel’s employment. The claim of harassment over a song published on the internet indicates the university’s weakness to embrace alternative theological viewpoints.
Dr. Spiegel played this song at a chapel service in 2010 with 1,2000 in attendance and there was no objection. The university’s action indicates poor motive for ousting Spiegel and the university should apologize and reinstate him as a professor, where he has spent more than two decades training young Christian thinkers to grow in a flourishing relationship with Jesus Christ.
